”Tongues” consists of a number of salt stones, which have been licked and shaped by different animals. The stones testify of the labour of the tongue and the time it has taken for them to be licked to their current form, as well as of the part of the stones that have been incorporated into the bodies of the animals. The traces of the tongues in the stones can also be seen as a kind of writing, an inscription. In this sense the stones can be ”read” as a form of text, written by other-than-human minds, with the tongue as pen.
The documentation is from the group exhibition “Fingrarna mot himlen och munnen i jorden” together with Linda Persson, Åsa Jungnelius and Kerstin Björk at Virserums konsthall, 2023.
