A Negative Space of Knowledge, bronze, 2010

An exact cast in bronze of the negative space of my mouth, the work turns inside outside, and a negative space into a positive space. But by ”filling ” the void, it also visualizes an impossibility of speach, since we are only able to speak and form language with empty mouths. When the mouth is full, it cannot articulate. In this aspect the work takes on double silences, both the silence of an empty mouth in stillness, and the silence forced upon a filled mouth.
